I will be very interested to see how your conversion from PC to Mac goes. My Dell w/Vista disaster has likely been the final straw, so it's likely either Mac or Linux for me in the future.
Cindy and I decided to keep both computers running separately and not run Windows on the Mac, although you can certainly do so. If we need something that's still on the PC, we just go down to the basement and get it. (We no longer have Internet on the PC, though.)
Most of our Word documents have transfered to Mac's Pages program requiring little or no adjustment. The Microsoft Spreadsheets documents (the cheap-o version of Excel), however, do not transfer. I only had a few, so it's really no big deal. Plus Mac's Numbers spreadsheets are waaaaay more user-friendly than either Microsoft Spreadsheets or Excel.
Haven't tried the Mac version of Powerpoint yet.
It takes a little getting used to with a few things, such as managing your photos, music, etc., but definitely worth the adjustment period. Cindy and I are working through a couple of books from the library, just learning stuff that we can't figure out on our own. (Most of it you can figure out pretty easily.)
We bought our iMac from a Mac store and had a great experience. The salespeople are very laid back, EXTREMELY knowledgeable and super helpful. So far we're Mac ambassadors.

Photo, please. (Nothing like a little Mac porn.)
Gotta get the camera set up first....:)
Go Andy!
Nothing like that new computer smell.
Actually, it's kind of toxic. (cough)
